Is the Grandstream compatible with analog CO lines?

Yes! Our Grandstream phone system kits come equipped for 2, 4, or 8 analog CO lines.

Can the number of analog CO lines be increased?

Yes! If more analog lines are needed, an Analog Line Gateway can easily be added to a Grandstream phone system to increase the number of analog CO lines. 


The analog lines can be increased in either 4 or 8 port increments. (max of 24 analog CO lines)

Is the Grandstream compatible with T1/PRI lines?

Yes!  A T1/PRI Gateway adds 24 channel T1 capability.

What is the Grandstream IP PBX's extension capacity?
  • The "SMALL"  2 CO Line IP PBX supports 500 IP or SLT analog phones.
  • The "MEDIUM" 4 CO Line IP PBX supports 1000 IP or SLT analog phones
  • The "LARGE"  8 CO Line IP PBX supports 1500 IP or SLT analog phones.


No additional licensing is required!

Is the Grandstream a good fit for nursing/assisted living, and hotel/motel sites that have multiple existing analog phones, or sites with multiple DID’s?
Yes!  Our smallest kits support 500 extensions.  Additional Analog Phone Gateways can easily be added to the system to accommodate the existing analog phones.

Analog Phone Gateways are sold in 16, 24, 32 & 48 ports.
Does the Grandstream have hotel/motel features?
Yes!  Features like wake up call, room clean, check-in/out, and phone call accounting are built-in with no additional licensing costs!
Can the Grandstream light a "message waiting" light on SLT analog phone?
Yes!  The Grandstream can light "message waiting" lights on analog phones.
This makes it a great solution for hotels, motels, or assisted living sites!
Is the Grandstream compatible with digital phones?

No.  The Grandstream phone system is only compatible with IP phones or analog single line (SLT) phones.


Installation note:
Every IP phone we offer has the capability of using a data cord from the back of any PC. Simply unplug the network cable from the PC and plug it directly into the phone's dual port gigabit connection, then back out to the PC (gigabit pass through means no data loss to the PC).


If there is no PC or data outlet in the vicinity of the IP phone, our IP phones also have built in Wi-Fi and can be connected to the network wirelessly.

How does the Grandstream PBX and IP phones receive power?
  • Each IP phone includes (1) AC power supply and is also PoE compatible
  • Our "SMALL" 2 CO line PBX  &  "MEDIUM" 4 CO line PBX include (1) AC power supply
  • Our "LARGE" 8 CO line PBX includes (2) AC power supplies for power redundancy
Can the Grandstream IP phones be powered through a PoE switch?

 Yes!  All of our Grandstream IP phones can run off of a PoE switch.

Does the system need to be connected to a LAN network?

Yes, a LAN network connection is required in order for the phones to "talk" to the IP PBX.

Does the system need to be connected to a WAN (internet) network?

No, however a WAN (internet) connection is required to remotely program the phone system via GDMS, or to use remote IP phones.

Do I need IT experience to install the Grandstream system?
Absolutely not! Our tech support will help you through the entire setup, and support you with any needed programming changes!
Does the Grandstream IP PBX need a static WAN IP address?
No, a static IP address from your internet provider is not required. However, you can use a static IP depending on your application.
Do you offer a Grandstream NFR demo kit for resellers?

Yes!  We offer a variety of Grandstream demo kits that our resellers can use for learning or training purposes.

Is there a limit to the number of call groups?
The Grandstream IP PBX supports up to 50 call groups.
Does the Grandstream IP PBX support ACD?
Yes!  The Grandstream IP PBX supports ACD (Auto Call Distribution) and is included with no extra licensing required.
Can multiple Grandstream PBX's be integrated together while being geographically separated? (Like NEC SLNet)
Yes!  Multiple Grandstream PBX's can be integrated together, and is very similar to networking multiple NEC SL2100's, but no additional licenses to purchase!

  • VPN is recommended between sites
  • Extension series 1101+ at site A, 1201+ site B and so on
  • We recommend that each site has its own set of CO’s/SIPT/T1PRI lines, so that if a site goes down, the ability for other sites to make and receive calls will not be affected.
  • Each site will have its own auto-attendant and user voice mail boxes
  • IP phones can be placed at remote locations, however if the PBX goes down, all remote phones go down with it, because remote phones use the PBX to place calls.
Can calls be transferred to landlines or cell phone numbers?
Yes!  Calls can be transferred to a landline or a cell phone number.  However, two (2) phone lines will be used up during the duration of the call.

Does the Grandstream IP PBX support offsite remote phones? (Remote worker support)
Yes!  Grandstream IP phones can be placed offsite, to support remote workers.  

Important note:  If the Grandstream PBX goes down, all remote phones go down with it, because the remote phones use the PBX to place calls.
Does the Grandstream IP PBX have a mobile app?
Yes!  The Grandstream IP PBX includes FREE mobile and desktop apps for all users!

Calls over the mobile and desktop apps use one (1) line on the PBX.

Important note: If the Grandstream PBX goes down, the mobile and desktop apps will also go down, because the apps use the PBX to place calls.
Does the Grandstream IP PBX offer call recording?

Yes!  Call recording can be enabled for all phones, or individual phones.  The system can automatically record all incoming and outgoing calls, or recording can be on-demand by pressing a button on the user’s phone.

Does the Grandstream IP PBX have call accounting/reporting

Yes!  Basic call reports are included.

Does Grandstream have remote programming ability?

Yes!  Grandstream Device Management System (GDMS) allows you to remotely manage multiple sites from one singular portal. 


There is no additional cost to use the GDMS.

Will my existing paging equipment work with the Grandstream?
Non-VoIP paging equipment requires a VoIP page adapter between the Grandstream PBX and the non-VoIP paging equipment.

How is faxing completed with the Grandstream IP PBX?

Faxing on a Grandstream is handled by utilizing an analog extension port. 


There also is a built-in virtual fax that can receive and email faxes to users.

What types of Grandstream phones are compatible with your kits?
All of the Grandstream IP phone models sold in our Grandstream store are compatible with our system kits.
